Yesterday was hours of work in the gite after some clients left it in a terrible mess. They moved furniture in most rooms and I had to move it back as well as clean and set up for two new groups who were arriving. By the end of the day I was exhausted and could barely move. Today was a creative day.
A few months ago I taught some crochet for a local charity. This appears to have led to the formation of a permanent craft group. Unfortunately Friday afternoon isn’t a good time for me because I often have clients arriving and I have Pilates at 5pm which I won’t miss. So when I finished teaching I bowed out of the group. However I am in contact with everyone which is great. One of them had mentioned a pedagogical farm nearby that has open afternoons.
A week ago I was sent a message to say that the group was planning to go there today if I was interested in meeting them there. I was. I also took my French friend with whom I set up the knit and natter group in Huelgoat. The demonstration was in French, so I was stretching my language skills. However it was a great afternoon. Watching the woman demonstrate the processes of carding, spinning and then spinning multiple plys together was fascinating. She demonstrated how easily the wool would tear before spinning and the way that the process of spinning made it a strong thread that could not be snapped. Really very interesting. They sell yarn there however we all agreed that there wasn’t very much in anyone type. So we all resisted. Apparently there is a yarn fair nearby towards the end of August, so perhaps we will purchase some then.

In the meantime I need to get back to my crochet. I am now relatively close to finishing the garment that I am testing. I am certain that I will be finished in advance of the deadline. Then I can get back to all of the other projects that I have on hold!
Until tomorrow…
Bet you end up producing and dying your own yarn! My dear, talented and beautiful friend Maureen used to make the most amazing creations for use as art. It was exquisite! Unfortunately she died early on in the Covid epidemic (not of Covid) If she was still around I know I would have ended up trying to produce my own yarn, fabric, paper the results and colours can be stunning.
(Just in case you don’t have enough to do 😉)

I am wondering about dyeing my own yarn. I am interested in that. Just need to create some space in my life in order to do so!
