Summing up and a fêté

It has been a busy week one way or another. Whilst the gîte d’étape is not as busy as I would like, we are getting some clients. There were two people in last night. I only saw one of them and when I went back to collect the keys, they’d left, stripped the beds and left everything neatly folded. It’s great when we have guests like that.

The lassaka tasted great. Chris says that I can make it again anytime. We are out later so we needed to eat at lunchtime today. We had the second half then. Last night we ate it with a salad that included quite a bit of produce from the garden. At lunchtime we had it with beetroot that we bought at market yesterday.

I am making progress with the dress. I spent part of yesterday evening going backwards. I didn’t have enough of a particular colour to finish the section that I was doing. I frogged it and changed the colour. I’m quite pleased with how it’s looking. I just hope that I can get close to the finish line this weekend. I think length ways I am getting there but there is still the sleeves and the neckline to do.

Tonight we are going to our neighbour’s birthday party. This will be the first time that we have been to a party hosted by someone French. I think we will be the only English guests. We feel that we are quite honoured to have been invited. I have been and bought a gift, hand made ceramic wind chimes, I hope that we are observing etiquette. I think so.

If the weather is good we will be off with the caravan tomorrow. We need to go somewhere so that we can open it, clean it, organise it and pack it. So we are looking forward to that.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Until Monday…

  1. Have a wonderful evening avec les Francais! Yes it’s lovely to be invited into a new social circle, enjoy 🤗
I’m sure once the continuing travel problems and Covid are behind us things will pick up. James applied for passports for their trip to Thailand back in February Two turned up and two were lost (and Took had to go to London to the Thai Embassy – and James as NHS Took had to go to the Passport Office on an Emergency Appt to get passports for Jess and Jaime 😱. They can’t be assured their flight will leave now – or that entry will be granted on arrival with the resurgent Covid figures 😱
    Your dress looks amazing 😍
Sending love – enjoy your weekend 🤗

    1. It all seems so complicated. I hope that they do get to Thailand. I imagine Took would like to see her parents and they will want to see their grandchildren. Hope it all works out.
