A busy day

This morning I thought I was running late. It was only after coming out of a shop and re-reading the clock in my car I realised that it was an hour earlier than I thought. It meant that I had time for coffee with my husband before I went off for the afternoon.

As I said yesterday I am going to the UK in the middle of next month. My younger son is graduating. He doesn’t have his results yet but he has tickets for his graduation ceremony. We know he has enough credits for a degree it is only the grade that is in question. With the ceremony in mind, what to wear? I don’t really have much in the way of smart clothes any more. Most of what I have is suitable for walking the dogs or manual activities.

During the night I decided that I should make a dress. Early this morning I spent some time on line looking at various patterns. Unfortunately I didn’t find anything that I liked enough. I then found a top that I really liked. Looking at it I realised that it would be possible to add a skirt section turning it into a dress. So this morning I went and got some suitable yarn.

I thought that this afternoon at Knit and Natter would be a perfect opportunity to get on with it. However I have done very little. There were six of us today. Three French and three English. One of the women only came for a short time to meet someone else. I then spent some time translating because the other English woman has very little French! The new woman from last week came back and she wanted me to help her with some crochet. It was a little challenging because I had to explain it all in French. So with one thing and another I didn’t make much progress. I plan to get on with it shortly.

I finished the cowl last night. I feel that frogging part of it and redoing it was the right decision. I like how it has turned out. Now I need to be crocheting like a whirling dervish if I am to finish a dress before I leave for the UK.

The cowl and two beanies

Until tomorrow…
