No sooner…

Saturday was the market. I sold some items and spent a certain amount of the day finishing the skirt. I did put it on and was given some very positive feedback. I had some interesting conversations about crochet and mindfulness. I think I will have gained some new followers.

On Sunday we started thinking about how we could finish the top floor of the gîte. One of the issues that came up last year was sound and what could be heard between rooms. We have known that it was something that we need to address.

In recent months the local DIY store has started opening on a Sunday. So after much discussion about what we needed to do, we went to our local Brico Dépôt. After some time wandering around the store it became clear that they didn’t have what we needed. We decided that we had no choice but to set off to Brest to a larger DIY store. After much umming and erring, we decided what we were going to do. We have bought underlay that specifically states that it has sound proofing qualities, and flooring to go over the top.

In the end the whole process took us almost the whole day. It did though mean that we were prepared to start this morning. Chris is still finishing the doors and the door friezes above them. So we haven’t started laying the flooring yet.

This morning I walked the long way around to the village. I do love the views across to the Monts d’Arree. With it being a bright morning the views were really clear.

I have started painting the bedside cabinets for our large family room. I have only managed a first coat. Tomorrow I will need to finish them.

Until tomorrow…

  1. You have had a very busy weekend ! The skirt looks fabulous, well done for completing it just in time.
There are always jobs to be done on a house when you are converting it into what you want and my goodness, it takes time and a fair amount of money. Great work on the changes though. Hope the rest of your week continues to be productive for you both. Xx
