Making progress

This weekend has as always flown past. It’s Monday already and the new week has begun. I have been keeping mental notes, but I made need to actually write these things down.

We had decided that having re-arranged the ground floor of the gite, we need an additional sofa. I spent much of last week looking for one. During this process, Chris suggested that we replace the sofa in our house and use the one from here in the gite. We found a sofa-bed that we thought would be suitable. Said sofa-bed was in Brest which is about an hour’s drive away. Given that we needed to go to Ikea and Leroy Merlin which are also in Brest a combined trip seemed the most sensible idea.

I am very pleased to report that the sofa was suitable. So, with the help of the previous owner, we were able to load the sofa-bed. Next stop Ikea. I had a list, and I knew what I wanted. Ikea is a treasure trove of temptation thus a list is imperative. I am not going to pretend that we managed to exit having not picked up any impulse purchases; however, some were very cheap, and others were practical. Consequently, I didn’t feel too bad about them. Having finished in Ikea we realised that there wasn’t enough time to get to Leroy Merlin because we had a guest in the gite and we needed to get back and light the fire.

Yesterday we managed to get the new sofa upstairs in our house and the other sofa installed in the gite. The process as of getting the new sofa up the stairs was a challenge. It was heavy. We took as much of it apart as possible. We ended up removing the banister. It could have been a comedy of sketch. However, we managed to get it there. The guest had left the gite by this time, so we were able to drop everything we had purchased.

In the afternoon we attended a house-warming party. It was an enjoyable end to the weekend. The house is stunning and has amazing views.

Next weekend I will have a stall at Les Puces, spring market. With this in mind, I have been making some items that will be appropriate impulse buys. I need to finish the faces, but I have now 6 bunnies and several baskets with chocolate eggs and bunnies. I need to complete a few more baskets and I will be ready for the market.

Until tomorrow…

  1. It sounds like a very productive time for you. The bunnies and baskets look cute as can be. Rudolf Steiner never liked the idea of adding faces to toys so that children could create their own mental imagery of the future face. When I saw the Ines without faces, I initially thought of that.
Ines is a treasure trove of ideas and delights, you did well to get out with mot much more than you planned !
Have a lovely comfortable evening on your new sofa. Xxx
