In the dog house

Unfortunately the sofa that we went to see last night was of no use. So the search goes on. I have enquired about some others, but no response so far.

This morning was quite productive. I managed to get the final rug washed. I hope it will be dry by tomorrow evening given I have a guest going in that room. Afterwards I went shopping in the market. I do enjoy buying fruit and vegetables that are so fresh. Today I also bought some mackerel. As I a child I really didn’t like it. ( Who knows what my mother did to it!) I now really quite like it. So it’s mackerel for dinner this evening along with a salad which includes fennel, something else that I’ve only recently realised that I like that too!

At lunchtime I was walking in Huelgoat with all three dogs on leads. I stopped to talk someone. At that point another dog was walking past a little way away. The labradors decided that they wanted to see the other dog. They took off and managed to pull me over, I fell off the pavement landing in the road. I am quite cross with them. And I am currently grazed and bruised. So I am feeling rather sorry for myself.

They still get their tea!

This afternoon has been four seasons in one day! We have had sunshine and snow. I have been working on my Jackfield Tile. It is now very close to being finished. I’ll keep you posted as to what I will be doing with it.

Until tomorrow…

  1. Oh my, I do hope you are not too or or grazed. Those two must have taken off like rockets !
We absolutely love mackerel in this house, especially BBQ. Slashed and rubbed with salt and oil to make the skin crispy. Yum !
We find that marketplace is a world of its own here. Sometimes people respond very quickly and at other times it takes weeks and some never respond at all. It’s a waiting game ! I hope you find a sofa that is suitable soon for the gite.
Bitterly cold outside today in the wind so back to lighting the fire tonight after homemade pizza for tea.
Have a lovely warm evening. Xx

    1. To be honest I’m not entirely certain what happened. I am very cross with them. Pizza sounds wonderful. The mackerel is frying now. I’m getting quite hungry smelling it cooking! Hope you have a great evening too x

  2. Food culture in France probably responsible for changed attitude to mackerel. I HATED the stuff until I went out fishing in Stoke Bay and caught a line-full. Back on the beach we cooked them – they tasted like a different food! Bet yours are fresh!
Fennel πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ – nice as sauce too!
Sorry to hear you were pulled over! Hope you’re not too sore – it’s so easy to get pulled off balance! Even our three little lightweights can catch Steve out if they strike at the right moment!!!!

    1. Probably started to like mackerel before I moved here but I think when it’s really fresh it’s so different. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who can get caught out!
