Quite some success!

Last weekend we started on some jobs on the gîte thinking that they’d all be finished in a weekend. The reality is that things have taken considerably longer than we thought. And as with all of these things one job inevitably leads to another.

We have now finished the ground floor. I do want to get an additional sofa. However it is looking so much better. I had promised some before and after photos so they will follow.

What you can’t see in these pictures is that we used to have exposed pipework covered with a Brittany flag. I’m pleased to say that Chris built some box-work and I have painted it. We have reinstated the flag below the new box-work.

I have also been working today on the website. I have bizarrely developed a deep-seated fear of technology, I can do this but much of the rest is impossible. I spent about 6 hours today and finally have the site up and running complete with a spelling error, which I will fix shortly. I don’t like things to be published if they’re not perfect, although the reality is that nothing ever is. Anyway this afternoon I forced myself to press the publish button and we are now live complete with a map on Google with a link to the website. When technology works it is quite incredible.

Until tomorrow…

  1. Amazing work ! You have made such a change to how the give looks. Well done for your achievement and positivity even when things were overwhelming. I hope you feel very satisfied with the work you have done in a relatively short time. Do you think that perhaps it is not that it took longer, but that your goal was initially a little overzealous? I think you have worked miracles in there !
I am sure you are both going to see the rewards for your efforts very quickly and your website looks fantastic. Good luck for the new season. Xx

    1. Thank you. I think if all we’d done was sort the downstairs then yes it would have been done last weekend. However one job led to another, so more than when we started. In reality we have more jobs yet to do. We will just have to keep going!
