Friends, soup and driving

Over the last few days I have had the opportunity to catch up with a number of friends that I haven’t seen for the last few years. It has been great. Strangely enough soup has been a topic of conversation almost every time.

I am a soup fan and am now off to try a number of different recipes that have been shared with me. Funnily enough all the soup recipes have been vegetarian and many of them are vegan too. I do eat meat these days. I was vegetarian for many years. Much of my diet remains vegetarian and some of it is vegan. I am aware of the arguments that suggest that a plant based diet may help with climate change. However; I feel that many of the vegan products that are available in the UK are problematic in themselves. Their manufacturing processes and the chemicals used are not necessarily particularly beneficial to either us or the planet. When we cook from scratch with real ingredients then that’s different. Yesterday I was introduced to a vegan blogger: Olive Wood https://www.olivewoodvegan.com/ I looked at some of her recipes last night and I think they look delicious,so once I’m home I may well be trying them. As with all things, everything in moderation.

I suddenly feel that I am making good progress with the jumper. The back is now complete and I just need to finish the front to match the back. So I may be casting on the sleeves before I get home, which would be great.

I have now left Devon. I am beginning to feel as though I am on a road trip. I dread to think how many miles I am clocking up! I am back in Birmingham. I have some repairs to carry out on our flat tomorrow. So that will keep me busy.

Thank you for your continued interest and support. Until tomorrow…

  1. I recommend the Olive Wood no waste gravy and the shepherds pie you make with the ingredients. We absolutely love it! Love her recipes so good luck with them. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
