A day of work

Our flat in Birmingham was very cheap when we bought it nearly 7 years ago. It needed work and we did a minimum to make it habitable. Further works are now needed. As part of my visit to the UK, I am trying to arrange to get some of it done. We have spent part of today putting together a plan of action. We did so over a Turkish coffee.

We also rent the garage underneath the flat. When we originally moved to France many of our belongings went there with the notion that we would return and take them over. Several lockdowns and nearly two years on I have finally managed my first visit to the garage.

Interestingly, or not, you now need to book online and gain an email confirmation before you can visit a tip. It would seem that the recycling waste hasn’t been collected for months and much of what was in the garage is no longer needed, so a trip to to the tip was necessary. Thankfully we managed to get an appointment.  My car was absolutely loaded to the gunnels. However we have managed to clear a certain amount of stuff. We took some other items to a charity shop. We photographed and put on gumtree some other items to sell. Getting things organised does feel really positive.

To celebrate our progress, and given that it is the first time in some time that both of my children have been in the same place as me we went out to eat. Given that getting a curry in France is nigh on impossible and we are in Birmingham, curry was the cuisine of choice. It was delicious, there was too much so we took away a doggy bag!

Until tomorrow…

  1. How lovely to be back together – and eating curry! Perhaps you ought to pick up all those lovely spices to take home then you’ll never be curry-less again!
Perhaps that’s the best business idea ever for France!
The boys are looking great and it must have been so good to see them after your lost Xmas! Please give them my love.
    Enjoy Brum 🤗🤗🤗
