Cats and military jumpers

The animal that I started last night was a cat. I have now completed it. I am negotiating that it and two others become the currency to pay for the yarn that I got yesterday.

Our two cats are bizarre. I know that they were born in a field but they were only outside for a few weeks. Yet they do demonstrate feral behaviour. They are obsessed with dog food. Dog food had far less protein than cat food yet they are always trying to get it! This evening Chris was preparing the dogs’ tea when two faces appeared!

There is a café in Huelgoat called La Paillote (pie ott, strange pronunciation)! The owner drives a World War II jeep. I probably wouldn’t have ever taken much notice however we have friends in the UK who have a Wiley’s jeep and a Dodge personnel carrier. So I noticed the jeep some time ago and we have talked about it. Somehow we recently got into a conversation about knitted jumpes, Chris was wearing one I had made. The café owner started saying that he wanted one with a high neck to wear on his jeep. Once he knew that I knit most things he was very keen to see whether I could make something.

I started looking for patterns last weekend and stumbled across an American pattern that was specifically for personnel during World War II. I managed to print a copy and left it for him earlier in the week. Today I went to measure his chest. I think he’s quite excited about having a jumper that uses a genuine pattern. Tomorrow I am off to buy wool. He wants 100% wool. No acrylic in the 1940s. I shall be busy for the next week or so!

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Until Monday…
