I am not about to suggest that the French used on the phone is different to any other French but I am about to say that I find it that much more difficult. I am aware that we use a range of non-verbal cues when we engage in conversations. I remember a teacher at school saying that when the phone rang she had to find her glasses before she could hear properly.
Yesterday evening I needed all the help I could get! I had a client booked in to the gîte for the night. She had texted to say that she would be there at 16.45. She then texted to say that she had taken a wrong turning and would be there at 17.15. The next text was to check the address. When she still didn’t arrive I rang her. It seemed from what she was saying she was a couple of kilometers away. OK not too bad but then I discovered that she wasn’t driving, she was walking. At that point I said that I would go and pick her up. Of course she wasn’t where she said that she was. At that point in the gathering gloom I was on the phone trying to ask what she could see around her. Thankfully we found her, headed in the wrong direction, and took her to the gîte. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone so happy to see our fire!
We were theoretically having a quiet weekend but that didn’t entirely pan out. I have a poncho to complete for a client before Christmas, so I am working on that. We had the last minute booking, we went shopping and went and picked up a second hand sofa for our house.

On our way back from picking up the sofa we came through the town of Sizun. I was particularly struck by their Christmas decorations outside the church and stopped to take some photos. I love the sign that says, ‘Chasse Interdit’ which means that the hunt aren’t allowed there!

I have a number of projects of my own that I would like to work on. As soon as I have finished the poncho I will begin them. I have yarn, patterns and design ideas stacking up. As the saying goes so many projects, so little time.
Until tomorrow…
Goodness, what a rescue you performed for that lady. It must have been horrid to be lost and the light diminishing so fast. Various Christmas decorations are so drastically different from town to town, but most years in our local area we could be forgiven for thinking that Christmas has already been and gone. It is one of the few things that I miss from the uk are the lovely atmospheres that small towns have at this time of year.
Great that you have found a replacement sofa on marketplace. It’s my favourite way to pass an hour ! Haha. I love the fact that everyone has already done the shopping for me and my choice is now limited to the few things that are either in my area or in my price range. My sort of shopping.
I hope you have a comfortable and relaxing evening. Xxx

Once I realised that she was on foot I was somewhat concerned. And yes whilst the sofa is not quite as comfortable as I had hoped. However it is small and fits and it will certainly be fine for now!
