According to Meatloaf, ‘two out of three ain’t bad’. Unfortunately my success rate wasn’t that high. However I later discovered that all was not lost.
I went to collect my 3 balls of yarn on Saturday morning. There had clearly been some miscommunication, and I don’t think the language barrier was to blame! So one ball had not been ordered at all. One was there and the other one was the wrong colour. At this point I was rather dispirited, thinking that it would several weeks before I was able to complete my hooded shawl with pockets. However I remembered that there was another store near me that sometimes stocks this particular make of yarn. I tried and not only did they have it, it was part of a half-price sale. So the news was better. Today I have finally managed to finish the garment. The tassels were fiddly but I don’t think it would be the same without them. The original pattern was using only one colour but I wanted to use two and have stripes.

In the meantime I had started a light weight shawl. I had picked up a ball of colour change yarn last week and thought I would do something with it quickly. So I managed to complete that.

On Saturday I also picked up some dark green yarn. I wanted to make some Christmas tree hats. I found a free pattern on line. It was great until I realised that it was clearly meant for a small child. I decided to keep going and to adapt the pattern. So whilst it’s not exactly as planned I’m rather pleased with the result.

I am now off to adapt a recipe. I rarely follow them exactly! Are there things that you like to adapt? Until tomorrow…
These are great Zenna!
