A day for me

It’s rare that I spend a day alone however today I have and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. I was shopping for things for cooking and things for the house. Doing at my own pace has been really rather relaxing!

Part of the weekend was quite relaxing too. We had a walk in our local woods that are along the road from our house. It is larger than we had previously realised. We are wondering whether we found a couple of hut circle. We know that there are cairns and standing stones in the locality so it is a possibility.

I didn’t fancy facing the airfix cat sofa, so I decided to make something else. So I made a pair of fingerless gloves. I must try and get a stall at some Christmas markets!

So today I went to Brest. I wanted to go to a spice shop that I had been told about. The French don’t appear to have the taste for curry so it is quite difficult to find spices. The shop is quite a find. It appears to be more focused on Chinese food rather than Indian however it was a good source of many of the things that I wanted.

Brest is about an hour’s drive so I wanted to visit a number of places whilst I was there. The most important shop was IKEA. My husband hates it so I can’t ever go with him! Yet it is probably the best place for buying storage items. I am trying to get the house a little better organised. We still live in a building site however it would be great to have it a little tidier! I also visited a couple of other shops so all in all it was a busy day.

I am now home and have cooked a dhal in my instapot. I shall be serving it shortly so I will let you know tomorrow how it has turned out. Until then…

  2. You’ll have to do a spice trip to Plymouth sometime!
    Love the gloves
Sounds like you had a lovely selfie day – I adore them – it’s lovely not having to think about others for a change!
Woods look amazing – don’t go into any cottages with dwarves though – they’ll only lock you up as a cleaner 🤣🤣🤣
They do look ancient woods – amazing on a snowy day I reckon 😘
