Mindfulness, car and canine.

Today was a mindfulness session. I so look forward to them. They really help me to keep calm, to relax and have a positive outlook on life. I am starting to realise that me-time is really important particularly if you are trying to support others. So time spent on mindfulness is not self-indulgent, quite the opposite it is a way of ensuring self-care.

I thoroughly enjoyed today’s session. I have come away feeling positive about life and who I am. The relaxation session at the end is wonderful in and of itself.

Yesterday I went to look at a car. It is several years old but it is the model that I want and has only had one owner from new. It appeared to be a good price so I paid the deposit. It will be ready sometime next week. I look forward to getting it. In the mean time I need to sell my current vehicle. A friend told me of a company that will buy your car. They have provided a valuation and I am taking it to them tomorrow. If they offer anything close to what they have suggested I’ll take their hand off at the wrist!

Although my current vehicle is 12 years old it is in fairly reasonable condition apart from two issues. In the summer it was driven through the contents of a septic tank that had been spilt across the road and three dogs regularly get in it. So this afternoon I spent two hours cleaning the inside and finally managing to get the septic gunge off of it. It is worth saying that it had already been through a car wash and I had washed it in the summer using washing up liquid on it. All to no avail. Today a combination of household cleaner and toilet cleaner appeared to have the desired effect!

Nancy often gets over looked given that the Labradors are full on and so much larger than her. Today I heard about how, whilst I was away, she helped a friend’s son overcome his fear of dogs. Not only that whilst she was with them he had her by his side the whole time. He showed her all around his house including where he sleeps. On walks even off the lead she stayed by his side. Dogs are often good at sensing how humans feel. I’m rather proud that she was so lovely.

Do any of your pets ever surprise you? Are there things that you do for self care? Until tomorrow…

  2. Hi Zenna
Glad your mindfulness session lightened your burden 😊. I’ve been meditating now for about 15 yrs or more (and it is just about ‘noticing’ what arises in our thoughts). I’ve learned to meditate when doing tasks that I don’t like/I find boring. SO weeding has become a meditation when bindweed/bramble/blackthorn attack and rip my skin and I just let the frustration seep away.
Stroking the dogs is meditative too and I’m not really surprised as they tune into moods – but it’s amazing how intuitively they respond in just the best way.
Keep up the good work – It’s like everything – practice makes it easier and self care is so important 🤗🤗🤗
