So whilst the day started with 4 breakfasts, much of the day has been about looking after me. Sometimes it really is necessary to take time for self-care. I am someone who understands this so well. So today has been about taking time for me and engaging in things that I enjoy.
Today was a mindfulness session. I was actually late, I’d lost track of time walking the dogs, something both necessary and pleasurable. We are a small intimate group which I really appreciate. It means that it is an incredibly safe space in which we can look at behaviours that are impacting negatively on our lives and consider how we may change them. This morning we spent time thinking about how we recognise what may help someone else, but we don’t recognise what would help us. We were given homework today. The journey stick is to be filled with found items. The purpose being to encourage us to slow down and enjoy the moment, to notice the things around us. We always have coffee at the end. Our teacher is an amazing cook as well as everything else. Today she baked cakes for us. As I may or may not have said I am gluten intolerant and she made some biscuits just for me. They were amazing and I got to take some home. They won’t help with the waistline but never mind!
This evening I have been to Pilates. It is the first time since I fell off the stairs that I have done any formal exercise. I have been cleaning and making beds which is quite physical but in a different way. I was shocked by how little I could do compared with when I was going before the last lock down. Again a wonderful teacher who is encouraging and supportive, recognising that I need to both protect my injuries but also find ways to stretch and mobilise. I am in pain now but I am hoping that this will help the healing process. I am now off for a hot shower!
I know we have a busy weekend ahead. I hope that you all have a good one and I will be back on Monday.

Sharing and supporting one another are two things that have unlimited benefits. It is one type of engagement in which all parties involved gain. It sounds as though you had a lovely Pilates session also, which I am certain will help with your pain and damaged muscles. Ooh, a hot bath is the perfect way to end a lovely day. Sweet dreams Zenna, rest well. Xxxx
