I’ve even stuffed the peppers!

As is the way at moment it has been an extremely busy day. Not aided by a toilet being broken last night. It’s currently out of order but should be working again tomorrow.

Last night a guest messaged me to say that she had broken the flush on one of the toilets. She had tried to fix it but to no avail. This morning I called the 4th emergency service our friend and plumber. He came and diagnosed that a new part was needed. He said though that it was a straight forward fix and showed my son how to do it.

Three rooms turned over, 8 beds made, bathrooms cleaned and communal areas spruced up, we left and went to our local town. There we were able to purchase said item. I popped into a supermarket for a few items and we came back.

My son set off to the gite. Shortly afterwards I received a text that said there was a problem and he’d need to take the cistern off. These are words I didn’t want to hear. Experience tells me that I keep out of the way if he’s doing anything tricky. An hour or so later I received a flurry of other texts. The toilet would be out of order for the night. He’d broken something else whilst fixing it. The first new guests had arrived. He was on his way back.

I was a little disconcerted by these messages. However once he’d arrived and explained what was broken it became clear that it was not something major and that he will be able to sort it out in the morning. So not as worrying as it sounded.

One of the things that I have found over the last few weeks is that I haven’t been eating particularly well. So much rushing around. Yesterday lunch time one of the groups in the gite were having a salad with lots of different fresh items. It made me think that I really needed something like it.

So whilst my son was fixing, or not, the loo I was cooking quinoa in order to stuff some peppers. I like bright zingy flavours so they have chilli, spring onions and feta cheese in them. They are now in the oven and I hope to have them cooked before the next party arrives. We will be eating them with salad.

Tomorrow is Friday and for once there isn’t too much to do. And I will be having some me time!
