On hold, hold on…

Much of the point of this blog was to showcase many of my creative activities. I am aware that of recent weeks there has been little evidence of this. In fact in the last week I have missed two markets that I intended to do.

I am recognising that its not possible to do everything at once or maybe ever. So at the moment I am prioritising the gite d’etape. It is the business that is earning the most money so it is where I need to spend my time and energy. Today was physically a little gruelling, a double bed out and bunk beds back in, I will never do that again another learning point. The group in the Petite Bunque arrived as expected. I am now waiting for my other group for this evening. They are only here for one night and another group arrives tomorrow evening. I have made August a two night minimum stay in 3 out of the 4 rooms. I hope that these people will be here soon.

For about a week I have done nothing creative but please don’t be discouraged, it is merely on hold. I have continued to look at patterns and I am coveting a headboard and footboard of an old bed that is in the workshop at the gite d’etape. Before I left the UK I began up cycling furniture and it was something that I intended to continue here however I have no where to sell it so I haven’t done anything other than things for us. However the parts of the bed would be up cycled into a pet bed. My experience is that people buy for their pets probably more readily than for their children!

With this in mind I have seen a pattern for a crocheted cat sofa complete with a throw and cushions. I have become a little fatigued with pantouffles, though I will be doing some more. However for now I shall be giving the cat sofa a go.

So until tomorrow…

  1. Being your own boss gives you a certain amount of choice in your persuits and endeavours, that is one of the real bonus points. Re-evaluating and reflecting on what has worked, what has not been so enjoyable and. where your interests lie, all with your allowance of time considered is a brilliant way to manage your own stress and enjoyment of what you do.

I think you have struck on a very valid point about the personal spend on pets and you should do well with anything animal related. Fingers crossed for you with that idea.
It’s almost the height of the season now so I am sure that over the quieter months you will be able to divert your time and attention to your other crafting hobbies again. You will never get bored when you have so many interests that you enjoy and they suite all weathers too.

Great work Zenna. It’s your first year and after a while lots of the things that take your time so much will be really less consuming of your energy once they are familiar and routine to you. You are really doing a wonderful job and following your dream. That’s what life is all about. Have a lovely evening. Xx
