What a week!

So welcome back and thank you everyone for your kind wishes. What happened last Sunday was that I managed to fall off the side of our staircase that goes to the attic. I was carrying down a bag of cat litter and  a bowl of water for the cat that needed refreshing. I include a photograph below of the stairs and a couple of me for good measure. I must start today by thanking people. As you may have noticed I don’t name people on here, I don’t feel it is appropriate and certainly not without asking their permission. So I know that people reading this will know who I am referring to. So thanks must go to the person who took me to hospital, texted me every day afterwards and came and helped me at the gite d’etape on Saturday. Thanks must go to the person who took me shopping, collected my prescriptions and took me to have a surgical collar fitted, even if she now insists on calling me Mrs Tishall. Thanks must go to the couple who walked my dogs, one dog is one thing, three is quite another! And thanks go to the other people who made genuine offers of help and assistance. I rarely ask for help and certainly don’t often admit that I cannot do things so this has been a real week of reckonings.

The weekend at the gite was busy. I had two rooms booked on Friday night and three on Saturday night. Friday night there were mistakes but at least they weren’t mine! According to my bookings from Airbnb the small bunk room was reserved by a gent who was walking with a friend, they wanted a picnic provided on arrival on Friday evening and breakfast Saturday morning. The small family room was booked by a woman and her partner who wanted breakfast on Saturday morning. The guests for the small family room arrived and booked in, all was well. The gent had not arrived. According to his booking I was to expect him at 5pm. Finally at 8pm I used the Airbnb app to phone him. Hello he says, yes I am here with and he names the woman in the small family room. No he didn’t ask for picnics. The following morning I took a print out of the bookings when I went to do breakfast. Oh yes, sorry I did ask for picnics. His partner said not a problem that they would have them for lunch that day. So in the end it all worked out. I was just so relieved that the mistake was not mine.

I did spend Friday convinced that I only had two rooms booked for Saturday night. After careful checking I realised that actually there were three. Thankfully I had time to set the room and a friend who helped me clean and make beds on Saturday morning. Changing beds whilst wearing gloves, Covid secure, and a surgical collar is a challenge! However I managed it.

Just a little washing from the gite d’etape!

I didn’t do much crochet last week however I have made some children’s boots and I am making some women’s moccasin pantouffles, which  really I want to keep for myself. I have also thought of a way in which I can make the soles non-slip by using off cuts of leather. I know that I saw some recently in a recyclerie, I now just have to remember which one it was!

I need to sew in the ends but so cute!

I hope that you had a good week. Tomorrow I will let you know about today’s trip to Quimper and the prefecture.
