Pink pantouffles and produce

I have guests coming into the gite this evening. However unlike me I have forgotten to record their phone number. I am so used to people booking through Airbnb or texting me, I forget if they ring that I will need to make a note of their number. So I know that there are two people arriving this evening, that they have two horses and that they are stabling them over night in what was the old municipal campsite. I know that they want breakfast and packed lunches, but I don’t know what they are called or what time they are arriving. I have written horse man in my diary, not very helpful!

Last night I went to the market at Quinoulrc’h. Strangely a number of stalls were missing and the market organisers didn’t know where they were. However there was a good atmosphere. In fact it was one of the stall holder’s birthday. She had had a very jolly lunch with champagne and rose wine. So it was quite amusing. I didn’t sell much but I sold something and took an order for a pair of pink pantouffles. I find it surprising that during the summer that there is such an interest in slippers. Maybe I need to make more of them and find a way of creating non-slip soles.

I went to the supermarket today. It’s something that I tend to put off whenever I can. However I needed to purchase some items for breakfasts and picnics. Amongst the fruit and vegetables were a number of boxes that were wrapped in clingfilm with items that are no doubt past their best. However at 2.50e they were an absolute bargain. So I have come home armed with them and shortly I am going to consider what I will be making. I will make a soup because there are root vegetables in there. I will though be making some other things too.

What would you do with my box of goodies? Are there items that you like to make with odds and ends?

  1. Brilliant that you made a sale. Great work Zenna.
I hope the horse riders turn up for you. They should be easy to spot ! Haha
The veg box looks fantastic. Definitely soup, roasted veg, mousakka with the aubergine or baba ganosh? ( spelt incorrectly). Endive is lovely braised. Plenty of goodness in there for sure. Oh, how about grated carrot and orange salad like eaten in Morocco ? We live on basically all reduced food wherever possible. I honestly find it gives us a massive range of meals and prevents fussy eating. It’s become almost a philosophical idea now for us.
Just had another thought, how about potatoes boulangerie or dauphinois with the big potato, or potato cakes ? I love food !!!
    Have a lovely evening. Xx

    1. There wasn’t a potato! However yes we had soup followed by a fruit salad. I used a tomato and some of the endive in the picnic lunch for the horse riders. Baba ganoush is a definite possibility!
