Freezing at market!

So this evening I am sat at a market at Brasserie An Alarc’h. This is the brewery on the edge of the village I live in. The weather had turned and so sockless is not good.

This afternoon I felt as though I was channeling my inner Strawbridge as I was putting something together at the last minute, hammer in hand. I needed something to display my brooches. So; a piece of wood, wadding and some linen and tacks, I made a display board. Having watched Escape to the Chateau and a New life in the sun I am always surprised by how last minute they are, well today that was me!

It seems that no one is buying today. The stall on one side of me has vegetables. The woman is very concerned by how little she is selling. The other side of me is a bread stall and likewise their stall remains piled high. This is the first time this market has happened so hopefully it will pick up and there will be more customers in the future.

I am trying to remain positive! However whilst I am so cold, I am finding it challenging. On the upside, I have two bookings for the weekend in the gite and one for the middle of next week.

How do you keep your spirits up when things aren’t quite going to plan? And any ideas of how to warm my feet, gratefully received.

  1. Wrapping your feet in cling film works to keep them warm but I am guessing you didn’t bring a handy roll of it with you ! Not many would. Hahaha
Keep your spirits up Zenna. I hope there is someone selling coffe nearby to warm you up at least. You have been very busy with producing things for your stall, it looks well stocked now.
Try thinking of things to make you laugh while standing there. I try and do that when I really feel there is no escape for a while. Or, focus on something that you can see, hear and use this time to practice mindfulness and let your frustration go. Sometimes just doing a little Mutley and cursing and swearing Under your breath helps.
I can’t quite believe I have the fire on again tonight !!! Have a wonderful flop when you get home and something to warm yourself up. Hugs and love. Xxx

    1. Thank you. I did manage to smile as a father was playing a running race with his very small son. So yes a little mindfulness. It is starting to drizzle so probably time to quit. And strangely enough, no cling film to hand! 🤣🤣

  2. I think stick with it, i know from markets over here it takes awhile for people to trust you are there regularly before buying, I always had a lost leader I think David called it, for me it was wooden light pulls, they always seemed to sell, sold them cheap, made little profit but it got people over to the stall as well, maybe crochet/ knit some socks to sell but at least then you can keep your feet warm if the weather turns !!! Display is key, and display and different heights, have a cloth covering your table that really shows off your items, I always used to look at my stall and think would I buy from here, if I wouldn’t then I would change it around again, also rotate your stock, so its not always the same things your putting out. You will get there hun, your items look lovely xx
