Hats and dogs

I have little to report today. I have submitted my first French tax return so I’m so pleased that I have managed to do this. The rest of the day has been quite bitty with shopping and stopping in on friends for coffee.

One of my readers commented that they were cheered by seeing the photos of the dogs. So I promised that I would take some more photos of the dogs and include them on my blog. We walk with them every day. They really enjoying playing in the water, so we usually try to include a water opportunity every day.  Today was no exception. Trying to actually photograph the dogs whilst they are playing is quite challenging. I have certainly deleted more than I’ve kept. However I include some below of Nancy, Mabel and Archie. Nancy is the terrier. Mabel and Archie are mother and son. The dog with the wider head is Archie.

I haven’t finished the hat that I started yesterday but I am well on my way with it. I have included a couple of photos below. It will also have a flower. So hopefully tomorrow there will be photographs of the finished article.

Do let me know if there are things that you would like me to blog about or you would like to see more pictures of. What do you think would make this blog particularly interesting?

  1. I think the ‘ordinariness’ of your blogs are delightful. And I do mean that as a compliment! Moving from one culture to another, setting up a business, ‘recovery’ from exhaustion is in itself extraordinary Zenna! Your creative projects are just brilliant – and not to be too philosophical- your search for a nee meaning and new way of living is absorbing.
In terms of additional ‘stuff’ I would love to see photos of the wider area you live (ie wider shots of the countryside and town/village). I like the photos because I can build a larger mental picture of your surroundings – and I always enjoy the pics you post!
Great idea you always finish with a question too – it feels like we are having a real conversation
    Love the hat!

  2. I agree with Sue. Most lives are ‘ ordinary’ and the constant quest of people to become more ‘ interesting’ is everywhere and exhausting. We don’t need to keep up with the Jone’s and life in its simplicity and daily tasks are often overlooked and discarded. Simplicity is often mindful with simple routines and tasks that need to be achieved each day. These are the things we all do and push to one side in our search for excitement and wow. I read Yuvel Noah Harari’s books and I often recall that it is the gossip of daily life that we enjoy as interaction. That Drs and academics in their break time are saying just the same things as everyone else……what is for tea, how their children are doing, that they booked their hoiliday etc. We actually dismiss daily life in search of something greater but only to find that the greatness of doing things comes from us. I love your blogs, your crafts, your inclusivity and your honesty. I would love to know what you are reading, when you finish a book and what you thought about it. Nothing else to add to a very ‘real person’ blog about what some would call the mundane, but what I choose to call the simplicity of life. Xxxxx

  3. It’s lovely to see the dogs enjoying themselves. Elsie misses playing with them. 😢The friends we have made here don’t have animals but they love Elsie so that’s okay!
Life is best simple and doing what you enjoy doing. You have such lovely surroundings to walk in.
A lovely hat, I think those would sell well at the markets don’t you think
I love reading too and would like to know
what others are enjoying. I like a good story which takes me to a different place and helps me switch off at night.

    1. It’s sad that Elsie hasn’t got friends to play with, in Walkhampton she got so used to playing with others. I will try and comment on what I have been reading. I read a lot. Really hope that you might all be able to come over in the autumn xxx
