Is it me?

I would like to report that I had a good night’s sleep last night. Unfortunately I didn’t. What I often find is that when I have got into bad sleep habits it takes more than one night to get back into a better pattern.

Today we are beginning to get back into thinking about the jobs that we need to get on with. We have not however rushed about. We have walked the dogs, collected items and done some shopping. Tomorrow is a bank holiday in France and unlike the UK all shops will be shut. There are no opportunities for new sofas or carpets. It is a worker’s holiday; thus they will be having the day off.

We are still in need of items for the gite. Last night I borrowed my husband’s phone; he isn’t locked out of market place! I found two rugs. I messaged the sellers of both and had a response from only one of them. The other still has not replied. We arranged to meet the seller today. We drove over the meeting point, the seller arrived on time, the rug was as described and I paid the price. Everyone was happy. I am still in search of a set of bunk beds. It seems that purchasing them is more challenging. I have found two sets on Leboncoin, this is similar to Gumtree in the UK and means the good corner or the good deal. I have been in conversation with the owner of one set of bunks since Monday. Last night he agreed that they were available and that it would be possible to buy them today or over the weekend. Last night I tried to agree a day and a time, but no further response. This morning I sent some more messages. Finally he came back and said that he doesn’t have time to take them apart today, he’ll keep me informed! The other person has not responded to me at all. I wonder whether it’s me. However if I’m trying to sell something then I make myself available. Clearly this is not the norm here!

I continue to work on the poncho. It is now more than half complete. It seems that I still spend a certain amount of time undoing things that I have done. However I am pleased that I can see that it is really coming together. I have made too many of certain squares and I have yet to complete enough of others. Nevertheless this is very close to being finished so I feel that I am making progress.

Given that this is a bank holiday weekend I am going to take the weekend off. I will be back on Tuesday. I am aware that it is also a bank holiday in the UK so I hope that you all have a good weekend.

  1. You’re right Zenna. Getting back into a good sleep routine does take a couple of nights. Being overtired is simply the worst and the brain is running on overdrive for a couple of days. I hope the weekend gives you the opportunity to unwind and let your mind settle into sleep.

It’s not just you with le Bon coin. Sometimes they never reply, or will only arrange by telephone and often they don’t reply during the long meal times, or at weekends, or really any time they just don’t fancy being bothered. It is the norm and not just you. Market place is often a bit quicker for a response as a rule, but you do get unusual requests sometimes. We find le Bon coin to be the most frustrating of all the trading sites but until recently that was the only option here. Having said all that, they are pretty much to their word and strictly work on a first come first served basis, even if it means that the first buyer is not purchasing the item for a week or more ! We sold a digger and the guy said he wanted it but didn’t come and collect it for three months !!
I hope you have a lovely weekend, relaxing, resetting your circadian clock and enjoy your time together. Still chilly, but it is sunny, so not complaining. We hope to get out for a walk and we’re looking forward to getting to the coast next week when we are partially set free. Take care and have a lovely weekend. Xxxx

    1. Thank you for your lovely response. I hope that after the weekend I’ll be back into a more normal sleep routine.
I remain locked out of market place so trying to get items is becoming that much more difficult.
Getting to see the sea will be lovely. I’ve been thinking about it a lot over the last week or so.
Although this lock down has been the softest, it has felt the toughest. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
