Time for the gite

So today, has been about various things; haircut, crochet and the gite d’etape. My husband was going to work on the gite d’etape today. We are having an additional water tank fitted in order that we can let all of the rooms, rather than just some of them!

We were up early so that the dogs could have a good walk before we both set off. The walk that we did this morning used to take us over an hour, we’ve now got it down to under 50 minutes, so we think that we’re getting fitter. This helps us to feel better. We had a conversation yesterday about how we are both feeling. Moving abroad during a pandemic, starting new businesses, not seeing our children or our parents is something that we are feeling is challenging at the moment.

Strangely though having not really thought about our gite d’etape for the last couple of weeks due to the confinement; today I have had an enquiry for July. It is only one room for one night; however it is a start. It had been quiet for so long I’d almost forgotten about it. I hope that this might be the start of summer bookings.

This morning I went to have my haircut. A little pampering was something that I needed. I had also decided that I was going to have a  really short cut. So my hair is now shorter than it has been in years. I feel that it looks quite French, so I’m pleased with it.

Much of the rest of today I have been working on the poncho. I have done the four larger granny squares which will sit around the neck opening. I am now starting to construct as I go as I think that will help with me being sure that it works.

So a relatively quiet day. But slowly, slowly we make progress. Have you made progress today?

  1. Hair looks lovely . Where abouts do you walk ? I take mine out 6:30 that way I don’t meet the local dog that attacks mine . I love that time as birds are just starting to sing and see plenty of wild life . Today was hare and a pine martin

    1. Goodness I’m not out that early! However we do a circuit past the farm in Kerbargain, turn right and through the lanes to Kerberou and then back through the woods down to us

  2. Short hair is SO liberating – I’ve done it twice in my life each time at a point of change! Onwards and upwards then!
It looks good – the French are mistresses of style 🤗
I’ve been really busy in the garden – out at 10 – just back in for lunch and now for dinner. Boring stuff. Grass cutting, weeding, edge trimming etc. But pleased with how everything is coming along Only done 7000 steps but back is breaking and everything aching – will sleep tonight! Weather here perfect for gardening but ground like rock – we need a good downpour.
Yes – You are both brave to move under the circumstances- but I know you will be incredibly successful in your new life and I’m sure the lads will visit often!
Here’s to lots of visitors – stay safe – be happy 🤗🤗🤗

  3. Lovely hair Zenna, less to do each morning too. The crochet is coming alon well, you’ll have it done in no time.

A good day here, finishing off painting the loft bedroom, working and educating Dylan. He had a zoom group today which he loved. Tom had his educational inspection report back and they said he was an exemplary example of home education amongst other praises, so we are all very proud of him and despite our anxiety every year at their protocol we have done it yet again !! It’s Toms last one anyway this year, so he has a lovely report to take with him on his next jpurney. Frank got his I dependantly marked A level papers back and got two B grades. He was 4 points from achieving a level 5 pass. If he had included a few more references he would have got an A in his mock. He is a determined boy and is already to submit the next one in a week or two. All in all a brilliant day. We are embarking on a new forage. We are going to harvest and prepare garden, Roman snails for food. I’ll let you know how our initial attempt goes !!!
So pleased you had a good day. Xx
