The highs and the lows

Firstly I wish to apologise for my failure to post yesterday. Friday evening I had a booking for a 2nd room for last night. Not a problem. I then sat up until silly o’clock trying to complete a piece of crochet. So I started yesterday extremely tired. Then one of our guests, who was walking, underestimated how long it would take to get to us was extremely late. After that I didn’t have the energy to complete a blog post.

However before guests arrive, once the rooms are cleaned and set up, I derive a certain satisfaction from how nice it looks. The rooms look cosy and inviting and the fire being lit makes the place look even better. When I left last night all was well.

On returning this morning things were not so good. There had been a problem with plumbing overnight that led to the en-suite on the first floor being flooded. This is not the best start to a Sunday morning. All guests were refunded the cost of their breakfast and went away happy with one couple actively discussing coming back. However I was left with a headache and a concern about how we can stop this from happening again. Our friendly plumber paid a visit and between him and my husband were able to work out what had happened. It was a combination of someone unplugging a macerator and a fluke air lock. Thankfully this can be resolved easily with little cost. We will hardwire the macerators and then they cannot be unplugged!

On a positive note or two, Monday is a new week tomorrow and we start again. And at 4pm here (3pm in the UK) we get to listen to the folk show that our youngest does on his university radio station. I have included the link below encase you’d like to listen. In the meantime I hope you are having a pleasant Sunday. Until tomorrow….
