The weekend whizzed past all too quickly and I genuinely am not sure quite what we did. Yesterday I went to the plant fair which turned out to be not quite what we expected. However I bought some useful plants. My husband and I have had a couple of honest conversations about how we areContinue reading “Taking the positives…”

Des Korrigans
Today has been about the gite d’etape again. We spent much of the day putting together bunk beds and removing furniture from when the top floor was being used as a flat. My husband always says that working in the building is exhausting because the two flights of stairs are difficult, they are off setContinue reading “Des Korrigans”
Taking courage
I have now spent the best part of an hour trying to find a song that actually reflected what I wanted to write about today. However I haven’t managed to do so. So instead I have just decided to provide a link to a song that I really like! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv8FBjo1Y8I I was looking for somethingContinue reading “Taking courage”
Hats and dogs
I have little to report today. I have submitted my first French tax return so I’m so pleased that I have managed to do this. The rest of the day has been quite bitty with shopping and stopping in on friends for coffee. One of my readers commented that they were cheered by seeing theContinue reading “Hats and dogs”
Hats, Scotties and taxes
Today has been mostly about trying to submit my first tax return in France. As with many things there is a mountain of paperwork, much of which doesn’t actually need anything filling in. Hopefully soon it will be finished! This morning was a lovely spring morning. We took a walk to the boulangerie with theContinue reading “Hats, Scotties and taxes”
Not quite …
Yesterday was the first phase in the release from confinement. However it would seem that nothing has really changed. Yes the secondary school students have gone back. We no longer need an attestation to drive more than 10km. Everything else remains the same. A curfew at 7pm, no non-essential shops and of course no barsContinue reading “Not quite …”
Is it me?
I would like to report that I had a good night’s sleep last night. Unfortunately I didn’t. What I often find is that when I have got into bad sleep habits it takes more than one night to get back into a better pattern. Today we are beginning to get back into thinking about theContinue reading “Is it me?”
So that’s why…
Humans are not designed to reproduce later in life. Now I think I know why. We cannot cope with the sleepless nights The cat went into his cage last night. He then screamed endlessly from then on. Today we both hit the wall. If I am lacking sleep then I can often feel drunk. IContinue reading “So that’s why…”
Not taking credit
Today has been about; learning more about the French medical system, thinking about the cat and looking at plants. Understanding French systems can be difficult but is necessary, so I’m always pleased when I make progress. And progress is certainly occurring in our poly tunnel. This morning I had to have a blood test; IContinue reading “Not taking credit”
Apologies
This is an extremely short post today. It has been a day of administration and catching up on sleep. This morning I had an appointment at the tax office. I had been sent a threatening letter with an additional fee for not paying the bin tax, which I was sure I had paid. As IContinue reading “Apologies”
