Learning patience

Since December I have been saying on my Facebook pages that I will be launching a blog soon. And finally the day has arrived. I have been technologically challenged which is unusual for me, nevertheless I have managed to get there now.

One of things that living is France is teaching me is patience. It is a different pace of life here in Brittany and although sometimes it can be frustrating, six months to get a telephone line, generally I enjoy it. The fact that most of the shops shut for lunch is good. It reminds us that we are not here to merely charge from one event to the next. A two hour lunch break could not even be imagined in the UK and I’d not be being honest if I didn’t admit that it can annoy me. However we all need reminding to slow down and enjoy the here and now.

Yesterday and today have mostly been about washing. For 10 days we had people in the gite d’etape every night and I got some what behind. If a year ago someone would have said that I would enjoy getting my washing on the line to dry I would have said that they were mad. However I do enjoy it, there is a real satisfaction in deciding whether the weather is suitable for drying and then having lines of sheets and towels drying on the line.

So until tomorrow, when I’m told that it will rain…
