The sandwich generation

According to my sister-in-law this is what we are known as, the sandwich generation. We have barely, if actually finished caring for our children, when caring for our parents begins. This summer has demonstrated this and has been a shock for all of us. Today has though be partially about me! This morning I hadContinue reading “The sandwich generation”

It’s not all cheese and wine

Given that the purpose of this blog is to talk honestly about life and feelings then sometimes it is necessary to talk about the darker side of life. This summer has contained a number of those issues. And today I have been feeling a little down. When my husband went back to the UK itContinue reading “It’s not all cheese and wine”

Hello and thank you.

So today is just a short post to say that I am back and will be starting to post regularly. It has been a really difficult summer one way and another. I am relieved to be back home. However many of the issues that we have been dealing with are yet to be resolved. IContinue reading “Hello and thank you.”

A slight hiatus

Apologies a member of my family has been admitted to hospital. Unfortunately I don’t have all the facts and I am in a different country. I will be back to you as soon as possible.

That’s a cat…

So finally after nearly two months my husband has returned which is wonderful. There are things that I can share now that I couldn’t before because I wanted to surprise him when he got back. Thankfully it seems that he feels that they are all positive. He had not been in the kitchen more thanContinue reading “That’s a cat…”

Today has been challenging. I had a very sleepless night. My husband should return tomorrow. With all the challenges to leave and enter countries at the moment I am concerned about the process. I spoke to him this morning so I know what time he should be through check-in. He will text me once he’sContinue reading

Guests, gaspilage and gateau

The end of July and the beginning of August are proving to be extremely busy. I have though now made 3 out of my 4 rooms two nights minimum stay. The small bunk room is fine to turn over daily but the rest are too much. I have the last of my one nighters tonight.Continue reading “Guests, gaspilage and gateau”

It’s all about me!

So whilst the day started with 4 breakfasts, much of the day has been about looking after me. Sometimes it really is necessary to take time for self-care. I am someone who understands this so well. So today has been about taking time for me and engaging in things that I enjoy. Today was aContinue reading “It’s all about me!”

I’ve even stuffed the peppers!

As is the way at moment it has been an extremely busy day. Not aided by a toilet being broken last night. It’s currently out of order but should be working again tomorrow. Last night a guest messaged me to say that she had broken the flush on one of the toilets. She had triedContinue reading “I’ve even stuffed the peppers!”

On hold, hold on…

Much of the point of this blog was to showcase many of my creative activities. I am aware that of recent weeks there has been little evidence of this. In fact in the last week I have missed two markets that I intended to do. I am recognising that its not possible to do everythingContinue reading “On hold, hold on…”
