Too hot for dogs!

Despite the temperature reducing and there being a breeze, in the direct sunlight it is still very hot. We went briefly to a cafe and took the dogs with us. However even with sunshades they were obviously getting too hot. They tried going under the table in the garden but that’s still too hot for them. They have now gone under the folding caravan completely in the shade. Who can blame them.

We have turned over two rooms and are ready for the weekend. I’d like to say that I knew when my guests are arriving but unfortunately not. Hopefully they will get in contact and let me know. Given we don’t live next to the gîte it can be problematic. It’s something that we constantly try to manage.

Having finished a long and complex crochet project, I’ve had some time away from crochet this week. Instead I have been working on a knitting project. I am finding more and more that knitting seems slow. I have had another go at speed, or continental, knitting this week but I have yet to master it. I suppose 50 years of muscle memory is hard to overcome. So I have been flitting between the two methods. Yesterday evening though I made a couple of crochet squares. I am making a throw for someone but I have a few months in which to get it finished, so I move between it and other projects. The wonderful thing about squares is that you can complete a few in an evening and there is the instant gratification of starting and finishing something. I think I shall be making some more this weekend.

Shortly I shall be off to Pilates. I always feel that the weekend starts after that. I am trying to ensure I manage check-ins around it. If I stop going it’s hard to start again and I know it’s so good for me.

Thank you for continuing to follow me and to comment. I hope whatever you are doing you have a great weekend. In the meantime until Monday…

  1. Have a wonderful weekend Zenna!
This weather is draining – not just for dogs 😂.
My sister (in law) loves to crochet I keep on struggling to learn how to do it – just can’t get the tension right – should have started before the brain cells went
I’ve struggled in the heat as I can’t get out and garden until late afternoon! Everything’s a crisp if I don’t water – so basically I’m doing full time watering (going over to James and Tooks – she has a zillion houseplants and is away for five weeks) plus outdoor stuff! Not much skill required to use a watering can 😂
Yesterday I decided to try to tidy up the pond area as the plants in there are going crazy! Fun lifting up the rocks round the edge (to weed) and to see all the little frogs hopping it!
As you know I’m a townie- so I was really surprised to see a full red robin taking a splash in the pond – I thought they were only red in winter 🤭
Anyway I’ve done curry from scratch to put in the oven; done all the indoor stuff – do I’m off to try to do a bit of dead-heading in full-on, blazing sun and to water the hanging baskets / again!!!
    🤗🤗🤗
