A pleasurable weekend

Aristotle talks about the pleasurable or good life. Notions of flourishing are drawn from his discussions. He talks about a life well lived. This weekend, particularly yesterday, was about a pleasurable life.

As some of you will have seen I finished my cardigan on Saturday. I’m actually very pleased with how it turned out. I wore it out and about on Saturday. Of course I don’t let the grass grow under my feet, so I was straight onto another project. Well actually a couple. I thought I might concentrate on a couple of things, so that I can switch between the two and keep myself interested.

The first project is going to involve granny squares, though maybe not as you know them. I spent time over the weekend trialling 10 different squares. I think some of them are absolutely gorgeous. I have begun watching some of Chandi from Expression Fiber’s videos. I like what she makes but there is also just something about her which I find fascinating, so I am going to make one of her shawls. I have some sock yarn that has been hanging about for over a year. It is the perfect weight for the shawl. So I’m going to give it a go.

Four new granny squares

Yesterday we went to the coast. The town where we used to have a static caravan has a market on a Sunday morning. We went there, then we had a swim in the sea with the dogs. The labradors seem to love it when we swim with them. They obviously were having a good day too. I do think that having nice weather makes a difference. Being able to be outside with the sun on your body just makes you feel better. Altogether a pleasurable life. We have swum again today. We went to our local lake. Nancy, the terrier doesn’t like water so she stays on the shore and watches. We are all now feeling tired and ready for our dinner. Thankfully I made it earlier, chick pea and aubergine curry. It’s currently in the stockpot warming through.

Until tomorrow…
