Tuesdays

I always find Tuesdays a bit odd particularly on weeks when there’s no mindfulness. I’m often working at the weekend, Mondays tend to be quiet, half the businesses around here are shut. So Tuesday is in some ways the start of the week.

I am continuing to get out and walk each day. Today I combined the walk with collecting the bread. It works quite well. Although the dogs have to be on a lead for much of the walk there are bits where they can be let off and have a good run.

I spent some time today cleaning and organising things at the gîte. I have a new system with bedding and having started it I want to keep on top of it. Years ago I knew someone who ran her own cleaning business who also looked after some holiday accommodation. She advocated keeping complete sets of bedding in the matching pillow case. In that way you knew that when you grabbed a pillow case it would contain everything needed for a bed. I have set myself up with sets of matching bedding for the different rooms. Now everything is in pillow cases, complete with a sheet. I have noticed that it is so much quicker to do a room when everything is together.  I am trying to ensure that as things go through the wash they go back together. If I can keep on top of this system I think that the cupboard will stay tidier too. As a well known UK supermarket says, every little helps. And organisation can help with mindfulness and flourishing.

This afternoon I went into Carhaix. It is our closest local town. It was originally a Roman settlement. For the last few years they have been excavating areas of it each summer. I notice that they have an open day coming up this summer and I hope we will be able to go.  As we were walking back to the car we walked down a side street that we don’t often walk down. We noticed houses there, that whilst not Roman, are clearly several centuries old. It seems a shame that they don’t make more of them.

Last night I was working on a piece of crochet that is not for me. One of the women at the weekend is trying to make something for her niece that has a complicated back panel. The instructions are merely a diagram with a key in French. I managed to make it last night however as I thought about it this morning I realized that I have made some mistakes. This evening I shall have another go. If I am happy with it, I’ll create a written pattern and then I’ll translate it into French. Wish me luck!

Until tomorrow…

  1. I love the idea of Tuesday being the first day of the week 😂
The idea about bed sets is great. I’m going to adopt that as it will definitely tidy up my store cupboard!!!!
Carhaix looks fascinating….. a bit like some of Plymouth’s older parts on the back streets – even in Stoke.
That crochet pattern looks amazing – good luck with translation
Have a lovely, peaceful and happy Wednesday 🤗🤗🤗
