A handbag, grass snakes and donkeys

At the end of last week I was suddenly struck by the drive to make a bucket bag style handbag. I have had some ribbon yarn for at least a year. I can’t remember what I thought I was going to do with it. However, I thought it would be the perfect yarn for my project. I didn’t have a pattern so I had to frog-it a couple of times. I often find with crochet that something starts looking too small and before you know it, it’s too big. This was certainly the case with the bag. However over two evenings I managed to finish it. I bought a metal clasp and attached it. I need to do that again because I didn’t secure it sufficiently. I am pleased with it though.

Yesterday we took the dogs for a swim in our local lake. After they had come out we spotted a grass snake swimming in the lake. It was incredible to watch. It moved at speed and every now and then it would dip under the water only to reappear elsewhere. We spent some time watching it. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any shots of it.

Yesterday afternoon was Donkey day at Les Puces. Apparently the 8th May is World donkey day. Given it was me that suggested that Les Puces celebrate it, the least I could do was to go along. I have a real soft spot for donkeys, so it was lovely to see them. The day was a success and plenty of money was raised both for the donkeys and for Les Puces.

Today has been all about cleaning. I have two people coming in for four nights. There should have been someone else in another room all week too. Unfortunately she has been taken ill and can’t make it. Hopefully she will get better soon and come at another time.

Until tomorrow…
