Definitely working

The renovation of the top floor of the gîte continues. It’s hard work but I hope it will be worth it in the end. I am beginning to see a difference.

I started the morning working on upcycling some bedside cabinets. I enjoy upcycling and don’t do enough of it at the moment. Hopefully some time soon I might get the opportunity to do more. I’ve painted the two cabinets the same colour but I have done different stencils on each one. I think I will be doing the rest of the cabinets in the gîte in the near future.

This afternoon we started laying the flooring. Laying the underlay was relatively straightforward. The vynl is a different matter. We purchased a piece which is 7m x 4m. So we took it out into the road to cut it into two. We think that we provided some entertainment for the neighbours!

We have roughly cut the first piece. We have managed to do it without moving the bedframe out of the room. It would be a nightmare to take it apart so we’re quite pleased with ourselves. We will finish it in the morning.

It seems that I overbought vegetables last week. Unfortunately some of it seems to have got damp and has become mouldy and unusable. This evening I am making soup with much of the rest of it. I think it will be a bit of a strange flavour but I can but hope for the best!

Until tomorrow…
