Hijacking mindfulness

I have noticed that mindfulness appears to be a term that is being taken up and used in a range of different ways. Of course whenever something is raised in the collective consciousness then advertisers will latch on. I do though feel annoyed by advertisers manipulating important issues.  I recently noticed that here even appears to be a boxed recipes and meals company that uses mindful in the name.

I actually believe that meals can be part of mindful practice. What we eat can certainly have an impact on the way we feel both physically and emotionally. Though on this occasion I am not at all convinced that these boxed meals can be positive. I believe that the process of finding fresh ingredients and then making a meal with them, concentrating on the process can certainly be mindful. However I am far less convinced by pre-packaged ingredients that have mostly likely been chemically treated in order that they remain looking fresh a week or more after they have been boxed up.

This evening Chris is cooking, whilst I am writing and crocheting. We have mackerel that I bought fresh in the market this morning. I always feel that what we buy in the local market is somehow so much healthier than any other fruit and vegetables that we could buy. Such food certainly supports mindfulness.

I am crocheting at high speed. I hope to finish my skirt by Saturday. I want to be able to wear it to the market. I will be wearing a range of things that I have made. I am hoping to be my own advert.

Until tomorrow…
