Going backwards!

We have achieved quite a lot over the weekend however at the moment it looks as though we are going backwards. The new units are in place. We have managed to buy a fridge freezer. Things are going quite well but there’s still quite a bit to do.

On Saturday I was despatched to Morlaix to purchase various items including fabric to create a curtain in front of the sink. Unfortunately the making of the curtain isn’t going to plan. The fabric is slightly oiled or similar. I hadn’t realised whilst I was in the shop. I thought it was finishing, but seemingly not. So about 3 hours were wasted yesterday with me trying to sew it. Each time I tried, my thread snapped. Eventually my machine appeared to clog completely. At the moment the sewing of the curtain is an issue that I am yet to resolve.

I also bought tile paint whilst in Morlaix. One of my tasks today was to paint the beige tiles white. After the first coat, I was a little concerned. However after the second coat things are looking much better. I am hoping that with a third coat it will look good.

Chris created a certain amount of box work this weekend. Finally the pipe work that was previously hidden by a Brittany flag, has been covered. Likewise the new units some of which are effectively a breakfast bar have had box work on the rear. So one of my jobs today was to paint them. I managed to get a first coat on them. I was then left with a certain amount of paint that I couldn’t put back in the tin so I used it up in one of the bedrooms. We had never got around to painting the box work in the en-suite, so I have managed a coat of paint in there.

I did treat myself to a pattern book on Saturday. It is of course in French. So I am going to see whether I follow a pattern in French. I am hoping that it will be possible!

Until tomorrow…

  1. Any luck with the curtain yet? You could try something like the iron on sticky hemming stuff?
