Being proactive

This morning I had an appointment in Brest, which is a city. It’s strange going into a city because it is something that we rarely do. And given its population is under 150,000 it really isn’t that big but today it felt it to us. I think I’m in for a shock when I visit the UK in a couple of week’s time!

One of the things that amazes me about France is the health system. A few weeks ago I saw a consultant about my foot and my knee. He was a surgeon and diagnosed that I have arthritis and needed to see a specialist for this. This morning I went for an appointment. This consultant said that my foot isn’t the problem, it’s my knee. He scanned my knee to check. He then said that I needed cortisone and within 5 minutes it was injected and I was on my way!

After the appointment we decided to have a coffee and to have a quick look at the part of the city that we were in. Unfortunately Brest was badly bombed during World War II. Looking at the post-war architecture I was struck by how like Plymouth,Devon it looks. There was even a bridge that looks like the Tamar Bridge. Chris kept saying that it wasn’t a suspension bridge, which it isn’t, however there were towers on the bridge that look the same to me.

As you will be aware I haven’t been too well recently. I have reason to believe that it is to do with my autoimmune system. So I have decided that I would like to see an endocrinologist. So I am sat waiting to see my GP to ask for an ordinance, which is a cross between a prescription and a referral.

Up-date! I did it, I have it. So I have been proactive. I can hopefully take a little control of my health moving forward. Now I need to decide where I want to go and who I want to see.

Finally one of my children was asking yesterday for some photos of the dogs, so I thought I’d include some here. Archie usually carries logs over for the fire. Chris claims he’s on a phased return to work! Please remember that the Go fund Archie is available on this website. If you have any difficulties finding it, then do let me know. Also please remember that I can take commissions, knitting or crochet. Just message me to discuss any requirements.

Until tomorrow…
