Rain stops play…

Well not quite. It was a glorious weekend and hot on both days so we were able to get out and about a bit. Today the prediction was for showers. Actually it has poured with rain all day.

On Saturday we went for coffee in Huelgoat in the morning. I am very fond of the cafe Sur La Route https://www.facebook.com/surlaroutehuelgoat/ one of the reasons for this is that they often have something gluten free, though unfortunately I was too early on Saturday. In the afternoon it was time to collect my, new to me, car. So now three out of four of us in the family are driving a dacia. I am very pleased with my new purchase and am sure that it will give me years of trouble free motoring.

On Sunday we had a walk at Lac du Drennec. Strangely there was still a fog when we were there in the morning. By the time we were back here the sun was out and it was actually quite hot sat out the front of the house. Yesterday was also Nancy’s birthday, she is now 10. She will have you believe that she is an old lady but in terrier terms she is still relatively young. She decided that sitting on Nanny’s lap for the evening was a good idea. She got away with it!

Today I have made two batches of chutney, tomato and chili and minted apple. My husband thought he might be testing them today. I think he was a little disheartened to find that he needed to wait for at least a week or so. Hopefully they will taste ok. Given the rain I have had a chance to work on the gilet this afternoon. So this is making good progress I am pleased to be able to report.

Do you make use of rainy days to do something creative? Until tomorrow…

  1. A lovely colour car !
    Happy birthday dear Nancy, Happy Birthday dear Nancy from all of us !
    Yes, the weekend was indeed really lovely and in complete contrast to today but apparently tomorrow is full sun ! We shall have to wait and see…. haha
    Wonderful chutney making. I love making chutney also and love to see the pleasure on my family’s faces when we open the first jar. Chris will be sharing in that excited anticipation and be ready to dive in !
    Thankfully it’s still mild and we are still not lighting the woodburner ! How long can we go……we shall see….. !
    Have a lovely evening together with your guests. Xxx

  2. Love the car – but it’s your chutney that had me salivating! I remember the first time I had a Xmas pressie of one of your chutneys – best I’ve ever tasted!

    Rainy days: you will remember I can’t cook/won’t cook, but rainy days and retirement changed all that so;
    1. Cook something I haven’t before
    2. Watch a really old movie
    3. Read a book

    I actually love rainy (homey) days. Love battening down the hatches and chillin. Not so good when I have to go out! Looking forward to a few schmaltzy Xmas movies on rainy November days 🙈🙉🙊
