As it should be…

The first year of running a business will always be hard work. However in amongst that there are glimpses of why such a business is both useful and heart warming. Some of which I saw today.

I am currently full and will be mostly full for the next few weeks. I am hoping that this is a good sign and will continue to happen. A gite d’etape is about people coming together and sharing experiences.

I have a really enthusiastic party in at the moment, two women and two children. The women continually forgive my broken French and are supportive and encouraging of my attempts to speak their language. One of the two is particularly enthusiastic. Earlier I started unloading a small bed whilst waiting for my son to arrive to help. She offered her help. Whilst I said no and that she was on holiday she agreed but said that that didn’t mean that she was incapable! A little time later another group, a couple, arrived on their bikes. I noticed that she was making herself coffee, so made coffee for them too. I know she was interested in their bikes and advice and information was exchanged. This experience made me feel that I have got something right!

Tomorrow may be a little more of a challenge. Double bed out and bunks back in! I’ll keep you posted.
