Each year my husband greets me with this on the day. I rarely remember in advance that it is that day of the year. However after 20 something years I should be starting to remember.

The day is always organised around the game. So things that need doing must be done early because once the build up begins there is no hope in asking him to do anything! His attention is entirely taken by the game. In some respects the concentration that he gives to this must constitute a form of mindfulness. His concentration will be entirely on the football and nothing will distract him. I think that my husband particularly needs to see the match this year. It is something that makes life feel more normal. Normality is something that we are all searching out at the moment.
Last night’s guests in the gite were amazing. If I hadn’t seen them I really wouldn’t know that they had been. This meant that thankfully there was very little work to be done. The biggest issue is ensuring that all surfaces are cleaned with anti-bacterial cleaner. I had done the bedroom and bathroom for this evening’s guests yesterday; so today the ground floor was the only room that needed doing. Tonight’s guests had said that they would contact me and let me know when they were arriving. They gave us an hour’s notice which was perfect in the sense that we could get up turn the lights on and light the fire. They messaged to say that they would be there just before 4.30pm which meant that it was possible to get everything sorted before kick-off.
I would like to be showing off a summer hat today unfortunately I am not. I have now frogged it 4 times. I am making progress again. I am going slowly and reading the pattern very carefully. Hopefully I will have something to show at the beginning of next week.
Tomorrow is Sunday so I shall be having a day off, after I’ve done breakfast for my guests. I hope that you all have a good day too.
Football! It was like a religion when I was growing up – you wouldn’t even date someone who supported the ‘opposition’. I guess then that the absorption could be said to constitute a kind of mindfulness – except it’s really not that relaxing!
Footie is a kind of war. In Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow it actually was sectarian in the middle of the last century. Protestants supported Man City, Everton, Rangers and Catholics United, Liverpool and Celtic – seriously!
Anyway hope Chris enjoyed the game and you chilled a bit! Sending love xxx

It sounds as though you might have had some time to yourself today after you had got everything prepared which is lovely. I shouldn’t worry about ‘ frogging’ it up. The phrase s one I have never heard before and makes me smile every time. I love it !
Such good news to have wonderful guests. It leaves you with a little smile and a happy feeling inside to be appreciated, which you obviously were. Great work.
Football is not a word that I hear in my house, almost ever. With homeschooling three boys it’s quite usual that they don’t have any particular interest in football. I know it’s a common thing amongst up alternative educators and I have often thought about it and decided that it must be because there is no tribal or competitive aspect to much of their lives. Dean does like the World Cup but other than that, it doesn’t feature. I’m pleased that Chris has something normal that the enjoys and looks forward to. I really hope the team he supports, whichever that one is, win and he has a lovely evening. I remember being in Portugal when there was a big football match and the whole country went bonkers, blowing horns and singing, it was actually lovely.
Have a wonderful Sunday. I hope the sun shines and your guests a great. Xxx
